Experience
I am a NYS certified English teacher with 20 years of teaching experience working with students in a wide variety of settings (boarding high school, K-8 private day school, large public high school, private tutoring/educational consultation and advocacy). I am available to provide individualized instruction in all aspects of reading and writing for students in grades K-12 (see above). I am trained in the Wilson Reading Program and Orton-Gillingham and I can provide multi-sensory language instruction for students with language-based processing issues (dyslexia, auditory processing difficulties, etc.). In addition, I can assist secondary level students with essay writing for scholarships, college entrance applications, and standardized exams (SAT, English Regents). If your student needs assistance with study skills and homework strategies/college-readiness, I can provide support for that as well. Or I could state it plainly: if your student at any grade level has a specific skill-building need that pertains to receptive or expressive language, I can develop an individualized plan to help you. I am also available to support homework and summer reading programs.
